Can you take communion by yourself?

Aldrin poses on the Moon, allowing Armstrong to photograph both of them using the visor's reflection. (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) On July 20, 1969, moments after the lunar module,  The Eagle , alighted upon the Sea of Tranquility , a solitary Presbyterian church elder celebrated the Lord’s Supper in reverent silence—on the Moon. Commander Buzz Aldrin had stashed a piece of bread, a capsule of wine, and a tiny silver chalice onboard the Columbia, and smuggled it into space with him.  Before his historic walkabout, Aldrin requested a brief radio silence. He described the following moment in the 1970 issue of  Guideposts  magazine: I poured the wine into the chalice our church had given me. In the one-sixth gravity of the moon the wine curled slowly and gracefully up the side of the cup. It was interesting to think that the very first liquid ever poured on the moon, and the first food eaten there, were communion elements. His actions were at first kept ...

Four Blood Moons by John hagee

Moon (Photo credit: Paul Garland ) We have just experienced the first of a series of four lunar eclipses. Acccording to  NASA , “The action starts [started] on April 15th when the full Moon passes through the amber shadow of Earth, producing a  midnight  eclipse visible across North America.  So begins a lunar eclipse tetrad—a series of 4 consecutive total eclipses occurring at approximately six month intervals.  The total eclipse of April 15, 2014, will be followed by another on  Oct. 8, 2014 , and another on  April 4, 2015 , and another on  Sept. 28 2015 .” These four consecutive total lunar eclipses will each result in the moon appearing red for the duration of the eclipse. This phenomenon is known as a blood red moon. Well, if you are deeply involved in biblical prophecy, this is the kind of thing you will find difficult to ignore. After all, Joel  2:31  says, “The sun shall be turned to darkness, and the moon to ...

Scientific discovery proves Genesis accurate

In this artist's conception, a possible newfound planet spins through a clearing in a nearby star's dusty, planet-forming disc. This clearing was detected around the star CoKu Tau/4 by NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope. Astronomers believe that an orbiting massive body, like a planet, may have swept away the star's disc material, leaving a central hole. (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) In 2004 astronomers using NASA's , Spitzer Space Telescope , probed the dusty disks that surround young stars to look for the earliest signs of the formation of planetary systems. What they found coincides with the brief description of planet formation as described in the book of Genesis regarding earth's own formation. According to the data scientist gathered from the disk surrounding the star system CoKu Tau 4 in the Taurus constellation , planets like the Earth are formed from leftover waste and debris from their central star. Planets form inside a proto-planetary disc , start...

Aldrin had communion on the Moon

Image
Cover of Neil Armstrong The USA is mourning the loss Neil Armstrong , the man who's first steps on moon changed history. The former astronaut passed away Saturday at the age of 82. On July 20, 1969, the world watched Armstrong's moment on the moon and listened to those famous words: "That's one small step for man... one giant leap for mankind." "I know I am joined by millions of others in mourning Neil's passing - a true American hero and the best pilot I ever knew," Eugene "Buzz" Aldrin , Armstrong's crewmate on the mission, said on Twitter . Despite Armstrong's great accomplishment, he never wanted to be in the spotlight. After returning from the moon he moved back to a small town in Ohio , taught college, and raised a family. Armstrong rarely spoke to the media, but in one of his last interviews, he said his greatest disappointment is that he never once had a dream about his walk on the moon. Aldrin, an elder in his Presby...

Search for life on Mars no help for Evolutionists, say Creationists

Image
English: Artist's conception of the spiral structure of the Milky Way with two major stellar arms and a central bar. "Using infrared images from NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope, scientists have discovered that the Milky Way's elegant spiral structure is dominated by just two arms wrapping off the ends of a central bar of stars. Previously, our galaxy was thought to possess four major arms." (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) As NASA's $2.5 billion Mars rover Curiosity continues its search to determine if the red planet could have ever supported microbial life , advocates of creationism took the opportunity to point out that even if life were found it would not help the evolutionary quest to identify the origin of life on earth. As the "science news is buzzing" because of the Curiosity rover project, the group of writers at CreationRevolution.com, an online resource site for creation science and Intelligent Design, say NASA's mission is misguided....

Are you ready for self denial & sacrifice in your mysterious Christian Marriage?

Image
Rembrandt's depiction of Samson's marriage feast (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) Many, perhaps most, couples will be entering their marriages with expectations that are inconsistent to reality. It is only a matter of time when reality catches up to their relationship. Houses do not long stand when their foundations are gone. This much can be assured in marriage - in time the winds will come and the water will rise. Only those marriages with a firm foundation based on reality will survive. This becomes abundantly clear when reading the first chapter of Tim and Kathy Keller’s book,  The Meaning of Marriage: Facing the Complexities of Commitment with the Wisdom of God . Two things are true about society’s attitudes toward marriage. First is a growing skepticism over the validity of the  institution of marriage . The  Pew Research Center  found in 2010 that  nearly 40 percent of Americans believe that marriage is becoming obsolete . And many, particularly the youn...

Evangelism dangers at work

Image
Image via Wikipedia Image via Wikipedia Image via Wikipedia Image via Wikipedia Article by Think Christian There’s a  trial in progress  alleging NASA ’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory demoted and then fired computer specialist David Coppedge for promoting his views on intelligent design. None of us can know what really went on at the JPL offices, to know how or how often Coppedge brought up the topic. It’s equally possible he did so from a position of humility and grace as with an agenda of self-righteousness. Since we can’t know that and the trial likely won’t explain the spirit of his evangelism, I have a related question: how can a Christian  be  a Christian, right where they are, and make their faith known without honking off the people around them? I believe the Bible offers a few models. Follow  Paul  and know your audience. If you are called to the ministry of people who are far from God , you need to know them. They will get to know you in their ow...
